About DTU

Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) is a leading technical university recognized globally for its excellence in research, education, innovation, and scientific advice. We strive for academic excellence in an environment characterized by collegial respect and academic freedom tempered by responsibility.

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. The successful candidate will work on the project MISSION-CCS, which aims to accelerate the implementation of carbon capture and storage technologies worldwide.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

The PhD researcher will investigate impurities in the pure CO2 stream produced from CO2 capture. Small impurities can pose a safety and lifetime estimation risk to the system, and the successful candidate will design experiments to study these effects. The investigations must consider corrosion and lifetime estimation to qualify the materials used for the transportation of CO2.

Secondments to consortium partners are an essential part of the programme. The candidate will have secondments at the University of Leeds in the UK, Institut for Energiteknikk in Norway, and Wood group in the UK.

Requirements and Skills

To be eligible, applicants must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree in disciplines like chemical engineering, applied chemistry, petroleum engineering, or related disciplines.

The MSCA Doctoral Networks Programme requires that all researchers recruited in MISSION-CCS must:

  • be doctoral candidates (i.e., not already in possession of a doctoral degree at the date of recruitment)
  • undertake transnational mobility - researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before their date of recruitment
Salary and Benefits

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years, and the salary will be approximately 456,708 DKK per annum, depending on your qualifications and experience.
