About the Position

The University of Copenhagen is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join its Analytical Chemistry research group. This four-year employment period offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of workflows for chromatographic and mass spectral signal processing, as well as statistical analysis and compound identification.

As a Data Scientist in this role, you will be responsible for extracting better chemical fingerprints from combined data sets using machine learning and data integration algorithms. Your work will focus on improving the scalability of our data processing pipelines within the context of three research projects: CONTAMINOMICS, AQUAPLEXUS, and ARAGORN.

You will work closely with researchers in these projects and maintain the data management and processing infrastructure. Additionally, you may assist in other relevant projects.

Qualifications:

  • Holds a MSc degree or PhD within Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemometrics, Bioinformatics, or equivalents;
  • Significant programming experience (preferably in Matlab, R, or Python);
  • Relevant work/practical experience with chromatographic data processing workflows;
  • Experience with project management is a plus but not essential.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position is DKK 550,000 per year, based on seniority, with negotiation for a salary supplement possible. The working time is 37 hours per week on average, with flexible working hours. The Analytical Chemistry Group at the University of Copenhagen hosts the Research Centre for Advanced Analytical Chemistry, which operates on multiple levels in the value chain, from fundamental research to education and application of analytical methods. Our team of approximately 30 people works on various aspects of analytical chemistry, collaborating with industrial partners both domestically and internationally.
