København, Denmark Awaze Vacation Rentals Ltd Full time

We’re looking for a people-focused European HR Operations Specialist to join our European HR team. If you are passionate about offering a great service, have HR Operations experience in or working with southern European countries and are well organised then this could be the role for you.

About us: Awaze is Europe’s largest manager of holiday rental properties, with 110,000 units under management. Our purpose is simple – to delight owners and guests. The business operates a number of leading consumer brands including cottages.com, Novasol, and Hoseasons, with 6 million people staying in one of our properties in 2023.

The Role

Our people are our most valuable asset and we are keen to ensure we provide them with a super service. Working as part of a pan-European team made up of team members across the UK and Denmark, you will be responding to queries from the southern European parts of our organisation on everything from internal processes such as contract changes, queries on holiday entitlement, team member mobility, and parental leave rules and how they apply. We don’t expect you to know everything, but we will expect you to show initiative to work with others to find out. You will become a super user and ambassador of our people system, supporting with the roll out of further areas of functionality where needed. You will also work with the broader team to ensure we have consistent processes and policies across the business as well as supporting managers and team members with more routine employee relations matters. Last but not least, you’ll be supporting our employment contract flow including paperwork required through all aspects of the employee life cycle. We are a fast-paced business and there is always something new on the horizon so no two days will be the same and you will need to be flexible.

What you’ll be doing
  1. Ensuring all our team member records are accurate and up to date. Updating our people system (Sage) with new team member details, changes, and leaver details.
  2. Onboarding data from newly acquired businesses into Sage.
  3. Issuing employment contracts and amendment letters.
  4. Ensuring that our HR policies, procedures and document templates (e.g. employment contracts) are up to date and compliant.
  5. Managing and maintaining our HR Benefits and reporting requirements.
  6. Supporting managers with facilitating performance and absence discussions and terminations.
  7. Overseeing maternity and paternity processes.
  8. Carrying out onboarding/welcome sessions for new team members.
  9. Liaising with our Legal teams to implement compliance initiatives e.g. compliance training/courses, awareness of the Safecall hotline etc.
  10. Producing reports from our people system.
  11. Supporting team members and managers with administrative and other queries.
  12. Supporting the planning and implementation of people related activities such as team member events and training.
  13. Supporting where needed with a range of HR assignments and projects.

Key skills to succeed

We’re a team full of energy and with a passion for what we do, so it’s key that you’re enthusiastic, driven and keen to be part of a team. What else do you need in order to succeed in this role?

  1. You are able to act on your initiative and suggest practical, ethical and commercial solutions.
  2. You have a keen eye for detail, are highly organised and enjoy putting in place structure.
  3. You have an inquisitive approach to all that you do; you’re comfortable asking questions of your stakeholders.
  4. You’ve got experience of working with an HRIS or love learning new systems.
  5. You’re passionate about people.
  6. You are comfortable working in an international environment with many different stakeholders from different countries across southern Europe.
  7. You have a high level of integrity and discretion.
  8. You are flexible and are comfortable travelling as required.
  9. Fluency in French would be an advantage but not essential.

Equally as important as all the technical “stuff”, we’re looking for someone who is hungry to learn, irrespective of their seniority. We don’t believe in standing still (we work in travel, after all), but instead think that everyone should be learning, all the time. Whether it’s a new piece of software, an industry event or a mentoring opportunity, we will support you to grow your skillset.

If you’re excited by working in a fast-paced environment and want to join us on our journey, we’d love to chat.

What we’ll give you
  1. You’ll be joining a team of genuine, passionate people.
  2. You’ll have the freedom to choose the best way of working to get the job done. We work cross-functionally, so you’ll be given opportunities to develop skills outside of your core skillset.
  3. A possibility to influence your own job description.

What else do you need to know?

We want to make the application process as stress-free as possible, so typically we’ll have an informal chat with you on the phone, followed by a comprehensive interview over Teams, where you’ll have a chance to find out a bit more about the exciting things we’re doing. We want to hear about your favourite (and least favourite) projects, what makes you tick and why. Then, we’d love to show you “our place” so would look to meet you for an informal session in our office in Virum, Copenhagen.

We believe in equal opportunities and aim to create a team that is representative of our society, knowing that embracing differences enhances the capabilities of our business and makes for a happy place to work. We are proud to recognise and celebrate that we have a diverse culture where employees are accepted for who they are, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion or ability.
