We are seeking a Scientist for Antimicrobial Resistance and Veterinary Sciences to join our team at PARETO SECURITIES AS. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and management of our portfolio of projects in low- and middle-income countries.

About the Position

The successful candidate will have a background in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) mitigation in agrifood systems, animal health, and/or One Health. They will work closely with our team to develop and manage projects that address the behavioural and economic consequences of AMR in the animal and food sectors and across the One Health spectrum.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring sound project implementation strategies, effective scoping of projects, clear setting of targets and deliverables, and contributing to the dissemination of our vision, mission, and goals.

This is a full-time position based in Copenhagen, Denmark, offering a competitive salary range of approximately **€6,500 - €10,000 per month**, depending on qualifications and experience. The position comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including a pension scheme and relocation assistance for candidates who need to relocate to Denmark.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and advise on research study designs for AMR-mitigation in terrestrial and aquatic animals and the wider agrifood sector as well as cross-cutting One Health projects
  • Provide expert input into the development and implementation of ICARS projects primarily in the animal and food sector
  • Successfully drive the projects and deliver on the objectives
  • Contribute to the process development, as well as synthesis, analysis, and assimilation of data into reports and publications for ICARS
  • Deliver independent evidence synthesis, assessments, and reports within the AMR area
  • Continuously monitor scientific research on AMR-mitigation relevant to ICARS
  • Identify and contribute to grant applications for funding
  • Represent ICARS at formal project working groups or meetings, as well as at conferences, workshops, and networking events
  • Be the primary contact point for LMICs partners during the co-development of ICARS-supported projects
  • Build a global network of experts and partners to strengthen the knowledge of behavioural and economic implications of interventions related to AMR
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders, researchers, and policy makers for efficient AMR mitigation

You will also be required to travel as necessary for the purpose of providing on-site support to project teams in LMICs, and to nurture, build, and maintain networks of relationships with researchers, advisors, and consultants for the purpose of delivering ICARS' priorities.

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have an advanced degree (MD, DVM, PhD, or equivalency in work experience) in veterinary medicine, animal production, food science, or fisheries science and management.

Additionally, you must have minimum 5 years of professional experience after graduation in advising and/or developing projects related to AMR mitigation. You should also have demonstrated experience in conducting intervention and implementation research, including using advanced research methods, and experience in project management, including planning, resourcing, allocating budget, monitoring, and reporting.

Familiarity with systematic reviews and meta-analysis is also desirable. Knowledge of Arabic, French, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish is considered an advantage. Excellent command of written and spoken English is required, as it is the ICARS working language.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, ability to successfully manage competing priorities, and evidence of ability to multi-task and manage a fluctuating and at times heavy workload.

A strong verbal and written communication skillset, including the ability to synthesize information conveying key points clearly and concisely, is essential. Ability to work across global teams, strategic thinking, and a global perspective are also highly valued.
