About the Role

We are seeking a talented Machine Learning Scientist to join our team at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI). The successful candidate will have a strong background in machine learning and experience in developing data-driven models for weather forecasting.

Job Description

The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to the development of innovative data-driven models for accurate and near real-time weather prediction. This involves working with our international research partners to advance our understanding of weather prediction and develop new models that can improve forecasting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement machine learning algorithms for weather forecasting using large datasets
  • Collaborate with our international research partners to advance our understanding of weather prediction
  • Contribute to the development of new data-driven models for weather forecasting
  • Analyze and interpret results from machine learning experiments
  • Publish research findings in top-tier scientific journals
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have a Master's or Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics, atmospheric sciences, applied physics, data science, or a closely related field. You should also have substantial experience and a proven track record in scientific machine learning, particularly in the context of environmental sciences. Strong proficiency in scientific programming, including Python, Julia, and Fortran, is essential. Experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, PyTorch-Lightning, JAX, Flux.JL, Zygote.JL, and MLFlow is highly advantageous.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is approximately $120,000 per year, based on the location and industry standards.
