About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Meteorologist to join our team in advancing weather forecasting capabilities. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about the intersection of meteorology, renewable energy, and numerical weather prediction.

Job Description

The selected candidate will contribute to the development of innovative data-driven models for accurate and near real-time weather prediction. With a focus on supporting the green transition, you will work closely with international research partners to enhance weather forecasting capabilities.

About the Department

The Weather Research Department at Klima, Energi- og Forsyningsministeriet is comprised of approximately 60 scientists, with 25 working in the weather modelling section. We boast a diverse and internationally recognized staff, reflecting the collaborative nature of our research.

We offer a flexible working week of 37 hours, inclusive of a paid lunch break, and provide 6 weeks of paid vacation annually.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Master's or Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics, atmospheric sciences, applied physics, data science, or a closely related field.
  • Substantial experience in scientific machine learning, particularly in environmental sciences.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming, with strong skills in software development for data analysis and modelling.
  • Experience with frameworks such as pytorch, pytorch-lightning, jax, Flux.JL, Zygote.JL, and MLFlow.
  • Strong data management and analysis skills, including data pre-processing and post-processing.
  • Proficiency in Linux operating systems and scripting.
  • Language skills: Proficiency in both oral and written English.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is approximately $100,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
