We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our team at the Department of Biology, Aarhus University. This is an exciting opportunity to work with us on cutting-edge research projects related to marine mammal acoustics and array recordings.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research group that explores the use of sound by marine mammals for communication, foraging, and navigation, as well as the impact of human activities on these processes. As a Senior Research Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, calibrating, and using large aperture hydrophone arrays to quantify toothed whale echolocation clicks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing research studies to investigate the behavior of deep diving toothed whales
  • Calibrating and maintaining large aperture hydrophone arrays for high-quality data collection
  • Collaborating with colleagues to analyze and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals

To be considered for this role, you must hold a PhD in bioacoustics, physics, or engineering and have experience in quantitative acoustics, calibration, programming, and signal processing. Additionally, you should have demonstrated capability in publishing first-author papers and be proficient in spoken and written English.

Aarhus University offers a competitive salary range of approximately DKK 544,000 - DKK 737,000 per year, depending on seniority, as well as a comprehensive benefits package. The university is committed to providing a stimulating work environment and opportunities for career development.
