Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional postdoctoral researcher to join our Marine Bioacoustics group at Aarhus University. The successful candidate will be part of a vibrant team of researchers working on the intersection of marine bioacoustics, conservation, and sustainability. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects related to passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) of marine mammals, contributing to our understanding of these fascinating creatures and their habitats.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on PAM of marine mammals, focusing on harbour porpoises and other species
  • Analyze large datasets using statistical and machine learning techniques
  • Develop and maintain databases and frameworks for data collection, storage, and sharing
  • Collaborate with project partners and data owners in European countries
  • Pursue new research opportunities and publish results in top-tier scientific journals
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • PhD in bioacoustics, marine conservation, or a related field
  • Strong experience with acoustic measurements, PAM, and data analysis
  • Excellent programming skills in languages such as Matlab and/or SQL
  • Documented experience with scientific writing and publication
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills
